Another fun day of sports enthusiasm has come to an end, and we summarize today’s activites with a quick recap.

Visit from local school, Rollsløkken skole

The children at Rollsløkken school participated in a contest where they had to draw the mascot for the Hamar 2024 FISU World University Championship Speed Skating. Several schools participated, but in the end it was Sonja from Rollsløkken school who had the best drawing. In honour of this great achievement, the mascot was named after this fourth grader.

The prize for this feat, was a splendid visit to “Vikingskipet”. Sonja and the rest of her class visited and participated in fun activities. First, they took part in a rebus puzzle where they had to answer different questions. As a prize every pupil got an waffle - as there wouldn’t be an Norwegian sporting event without serving waffles.

After the waffle break, they got to take pictures with Sonja, the mascot, on the podium. This was very popular amongst the visitors as they were excited to hug the furry main attraction.

Womens, 1500 meter

After the visit from Rollsløkken school, it was time to kick off today’s competition. First up was the women’s 1500 meters. Natalia Jabrzyk started this championship with securing the victory in the women’s 1000 meters. Seen as one gold medal enough, she decided to repeat the great success. After two days of competitions, her medal count is now two. In second and third place followed Marte Bjerkereim Furnée and Zuzana Kursova respectively.
